Common questions
- Can I deduct my mortgage interest?
- Individual landlords get a tax credit at 20% on mortgage interest, rather than deducting it from rental income. Limited companies can deduct it in full as a business cost.
- Should I hold my properties in a limited company?
- It can reduce tax for some landlords, especially higher-rate taxpayers, but moving existing properties into a company can trigger Stamp Duty and Capital Gains Tax. We’ll weigh it up for you.
